Managing High Priority Weeds

FLORA AND FAUNA AT A LANDSCAPE LEVEL:
Integrated Program for Managing High Priority Weed
Weeds present one of the most serious threats to northern Tasmania’s natural environment and primary production industries.

The Northern Regional Weed Management Strategy and associated Weed Action Plan were developed to identify actions to mitigate threats posed by weed species in the region. NRM North’s integrated program for managing high priority weeds coordinates the implementation of priority actions identified within the Northern Region Weed Action Plan. It provides coordination and support for community organisations and key stakeholders to tackle weeds across the region.

The provision of training in weed identification and management, and the facilitation of weed mapping (including training and resources) by land managers and community groups, are components of this project.

The integrated program for managing high priority weeds is an on-going implementation activity being delivered by NRM North. The activity is in its third year of implementation.
